We believe that excellence in research is nourished by cooperation, non-discriminatory communication and work culture. We actively promote the empowerment of underrepresented groups and intend to break down structural barriers as well as individual obstacles.
JGU supports its students, researchers and employees with a variety of institutional measures such as the Equality and Diversity Office, the Family Services Center, the Dual Career Service and a Welcome Center for international Scholars.
The programs of the cluster are closely coordinated with the JGU Equality and Diversity Office and joint events are organised on a regular basis.
We follow the measures adopted by the department of Physics, Mathematics and Computer Sciences laid down in the Gender Equality Plan with PI Sonia Bacca currently serving as Equal Opportunity Officer. The department is committed to appointing more women to academic leadership positions in accordance with the cascade model. Since 2008, the Ada Lovelace Project (ADA) offers mentoring programs dedicated to excellent young female academics in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
